It takes you back to a time before playstations and x boxes and reminders of the type of days when a scuffed knee playing outdoors was a sign of a good day out!
The car park was busy on the day we visited, however we learnt that a secondary car park opens on busy days providing ample space - about the size of a football pitch - eliminating those hypnotic laps of the car park while the entire family hovers out of windows attempting to spot a gap in the lines of vechicles.
Having parked the car, one is free to ample through tree lined walks to the playground, the pet farm or the house itself. With the pet farm clearly marked on our radar, we headed in that direction. By the time we reached the house, I was almost persuaded to rush home to the local DIY and purchase that barbecue I've been meaning to get all Summer. There really is something magical about that outdoors feeling with the waft of barbecue in the air, the little ones playing and laughing and the sun shining!
If you haven't yet visited a pet farm with your little ones, then don't go to another one before you have visited Newbridge House. We've been to a few and nothing compares to Newbridge House.
The grounds of the house include a large outdoor playground which is excellent, with plenty of activities for the kids to tire themselves out! We understand that the playground is undergoing resurfacing during September 08 so please check ahead if this is something that you are visiting for.
There are large green open areas, large pens of goats, shetland ponies, all types of birds, peacocks roaming free, a large pond featuring birds and ducks, pigs, donkeys, hatchery where you can see chicks and paddocks where you can see horses running freely. It really was a delight and our little ones even managed to feed some some grass through the fencing to the baby goats which really made their day out!
Well done to Newbridge House for a delightful day out with the family and for one of the best pet farms we've seen! Highly recommended.
Car parking is free, entry to the pet farm is through the main house and costs under €4 per adult. Coffee shop available on site serving coffee, tea, sandwiches, ice creams etc.
