SOLD OUT: Close To 1,000 Attend Dublin Web Summit The UK and Ireland's biggest startup tech event kicks off on Friday to a sold out audience of almost 1,000 people, cementing Dublin Web Summit's place as the biggest tech startup event, not just in Ireland, but in the UK also.

"I have to echo what Minister Richard Bruton said yesterday, startups are hugely important for Ireland. It's great to see so many people with an interest in tech and some many would-be entrepreneurs.

When we started the summit last year, we had an audience of 200, so its' really grown in just over a year". Mike Butcher, a speaker at tomorrow's summit and editor of the widely read AOL owned blog TechCrunch said: "Dublin is up there with London, Paris, Berlin and Stockholm as one of Europe's top tech cities".

Tomorrow's summit will feature Zynga's COO of Game Operations Marcus Segal. Zynga are one of the fastest growing tech companies responsible for the hugely successful social games Farmville and Mafia Wars. Jolicloud's Tariq Krim, Sam Barnett from Struq and Jennifer O'Connell of The Journal.ie will be among a number of other speakers at the summit. Microsoft's new surface devices will also be used to DJ for attendees at the event.

Dublin Web Summit, in just over a year, has attracted almost 5,000 people to its events. The summit has garnered international press attention and has been lauded by The Wall Street Journal and Bloomberg. Dublin Web Summit begins on June 10th in the RDS, Dublin, Ireland.

DUBLIN HOSTS UK &IRELAND BIGGEST TECH STARTUP EVENT

Where's the recession? It's certainly not in tech. Almost 1,000 people are set to attend the upcoming Dublin Web Summit making it the biggest tech startup event, not just in Ireland, but in the UK also.

The BBC, Guardian, Wired Magazine and TechCrunch are all covering the largest Dublin Web Summit since the series began in 2010. With a major announcement expected on June 10th - Dublin Web Summit is only expected to get bigger.

Paddy Cosgrave, organizer of the Dublin Web Summit said: "while London has a few reasonably sized tech events, there's nothing on this scale. It's clear that the tech sector in Ireland is booming, so we should certainly continue to nurture it" "Events like the Dublin Web Summit show the startup sector is flourishing. Everyday we hear about new startups doing well and the summit is about celebrating that success. "At Dublin Web Summit, we're growing our own Zynga's" Cosgrave said.

Zynga's COO of Game Operations Marcus Segal is one of several international guests at June's Dublin Web Summit. Joining Marcus is Tariq Krim of Jolicloud who's cloud-based operating system is taking on the might of Google and Sam Barnett, a self-made entrepreneur who's company, Struq, is one of the fastest growing ad technology firms globally.

Joining the international speakers are four Irish tech startups making it big and Jennifer O'Connell, the first editor of the hugely successful online publication - The Journal.ie

Over 3,000 people have attended Dublin Web Summit events over the last 12 months and the caliber of guests has resonated internationally.

The founders of Twitter, Youtube, Skype and Wikipedia have all spoken at Dublin Web Summit. "We're planning a much bigger event in October" Cosgrave said his ambition doesn't stop here. "I don't want to give away too much just yet, but the speakers we've lined up for next October will be the envy of Europe".
