Music Theatre 4 Youth (MT4Uth) are the all-Ireland performing arts charity and are calling young people in Dublin aged between 11-25 years to sign up for the MT4Uth Auditions on Saturday 14th February 2009 in Ss Michael & Johns Banquet Hall, Temple Bar.

Thanks to the support from The Gaiety School of Acting and Temple Bar Cultural Trust, MT4Uth are able to expand their work into the Republic in 2009. There will be 3 separate 2hour workshop auditions and 90 places available for booking.

So if you fancy a workshop with international artists such as Ramin Karimloo (The Phantom of the Opera), Nina Soderquist (Spamalot), Tasha Sheridan (Mamma Mia) and the STOMP team, read on for more info!

Speaking about the MT4Uth project Lorraine Maye, Cultural Projects Manager with Temple Bar Cultural Trust said "TBCT are delighted to be welcoming such an innovative project for young people to Dublin and indeed Temple Bar.  Our partnership with MT4Uth and the Gaiety School of Acting enables us to develop our relationships in the art forms of music and theatre while attracting young people to the area for culture."

After 4 years in existence MT4Uth will undertake their first ever fully staged production in 2009 which will be performed in The Grand Opera House, Belfast in August.  50 young people will be selected from across Ireland to form the cast of "Godspell".

MT4Uth is about providing excellence in music theatre, opportunity for young people in Ireland to work with professional artists and access to top level training here in Ireland.  Two new members will join the audition team in Dublin: Oli Jackson ("Chitty Chitty Bang Bang" - UK Tour) and Ryan Jenkins ("Swing" - the original West-End production of "Wicked").

John Delaney, Coordinator of part-time programmes, at The Gaiety School of Acting, The National Theatre School of Ireland said: "As soon as I saw their fabulous production of Me and My Girl in Belfast last year, I knew that Music Theatre 4 Youth was the right kind of organisation for The Gaiety School of Acting to work with.  For both organisations the aim is to encourage young people to grow in confidence while developing techniques which will enable them to respond to the challenges of theatre, in this case, of musical theatre.  I hope this is the start of a long and fruitful relationship."

So why not give it a try - you could be on your way to following in the footsteps of past MT4Uth members Niamh Perry (BBC1's "I'd Do Anything") and Jayne Wisener (Hollywood blockbuster "Sweeney Todd")

Auditions will take place on Saturday 14th February in Ss Michael & John's Banquet Hall, Lower Exchange Street, Temple Bar, Dublin, with re-calls being held on Sunday 15th February.

  • We will be assessing all 3 skills - however it is very rare that you find someone who is strong across the board. So we also look for really great singers, dancers and/or actors and assess where they are at this stage, regarding the other skill areas, and look at the potential of how they might develop given expert training.
