The Clanard Court Hotel in Athy has been transformed into a magical winter wonderland for families who want a Santa visit with a difference and Santa's Magical Trail is officially open on Friday 26th November and hopes to raise 20,000euro between the Jack and Jill Childrens Foundation and Age Action.

As part of this action packed 2 hour Magical Trail, children visit Al Pacas, Donkeys, Ponies, Reindeer, Sheep, Geese, miniature dexter Cattle and Pygmy Goats as well as enjoying a sneak peek into the elves bedroom, a special tour around Santa's house from Mrs. Clause, with time to write and post their letter to Santa. Children big and small will enjoy a snowball fight in Snow Room and a trip on Santa's magical carriage around the farm before meeting Santa himself in his magical grotto for a chat and a present. The cost of tickets are €15 per child including their Santa present while the cost for adults and infants is €6 each.

Sleep over packages are an added feature where families stay the night and everyone can gather firewood to keep Santa and Mrs. Clause warm, bed down Rudolph and the other animals for the night and afterwards watch a Christmas movie with popcorn. The following morning, the children wake up the animals and feed them their breakfast, help make Santa's bed. The cost of the Magical Sleep Over is €45 per child and €85 per adult. This sleepover option has proved so popular that there are not many rooms left, but families can stay after the trail and enjoy dinner with Snow White at a cost of €25 per adult and €13 per child. Praising Santa's Magical Trail, Jonathan Irwin CEO and Founder of the Jack & Jill Children's Foundation said "This is a magical fundraiser for us and it's great to see the children enjoying the wonderful hotel grounds and such an array of animals, elves and fun things to do. We are very grateful to the Clanard Court Hotel for supporting Jack & Jill and it's an important part of our SOS (Save our Service) appeal. I would ask families to please bring along any old mobile phones and to drop them off in the hotel, as Jack & Jill can turn these into cash for sick babies all over the country. We have an SOS target to collect 250,000 mobiles over Christmas and New Year."

According to Mark Wall of Athy Age Action, "We are once again delighted to be associated with Santa's Trail at the Clanard Court Hotel. The money donated from last year's event was used throughout the year for the benefit of the older people of our town. From summer and Halloween socials to the monthly bingo, it's only with the assistance of sponsors like the Clanard Court Hotel that we can run our events for free or for a very minimum contribution. We look forward to a successful event this year and thank the Management and staff for their continued support of our committee as we facilitate the older people of Athy and its surrounds to meet old friends and make new friends at all our events"
